The challenges this project brings forth is the building and clinic need to stay fully operational during refurbishment, providing optimal care to their animal patients.
Zastron is one of the familiar roads linking CBD with most neighbourhoods in Bloemfontein. In 2017, Pieter Pienaar had the opportunity to buy the building on the corner of 107 Zastron Avenue and he sat out to bring new energy to this tired building and area. A prestigious high-quality entrance that will emphasize the architecture of the new development in this famous wild life estate. It is a delicate construction site incorporated into rough untamed terrain.
Refurbishment of Grey College includes: demolishment and stripping of existing services, building of new facilities including brick work and waterproofing, plumbing, tiling and floor finishes, ceilings, carpentry & joinery and paint.
The client needed the project divided into 3 phases. Each of the floors were redesigned and upgraded individually as the building stayed fully operational.
Additions and extensions to existing administration building.
Acorn were part of the development of this new building. It is a rather large space designed not to feel or look overcrowded. Standing between two existing buildings, with the challenge of allowing a unique modern design, while still complimenting the existing style of the school. Rethinking limited space to create a new building for drama and arts department.
