Constructing for happy living estates | Acorn Construction

Woodlands, a well-known and well-loved estate in Bloemfontein is developing a new residential area.  Acorn was commissioned to build the entrance to this brand-new development. Dirk Kahts is the acting team leader with a team of 12 men battling with the harsh natural environment to construct the entrance to this significant neighbourhood.

The project consists of constructing two new buildings from outset to completion for the entrance as well as the pump station.  With the aim to complete by October, this project brought exciting challenges as foundations need to be build on solid rock surfaces, that first needed to be cleared with the use of dynamite.

Acorn aims to add to the natural environment, and uses the rock cleared for the foundation to build feature posts. To create the space for the pump station a 10m x 12m x 4m hole had to be dug. All whilst the infrastructure to the neighbourhood is being built.
